The purpose of this experiment was to determine if large amounts of artificial sweeteners affect the growth of the common pond organisms Aquaspirillum serpens, Diatoms, and Daphnia. Other studies in this direction of research found an excessive amount of artificial sweeteners in wastewater, where these organisms live. In order to find out if this could harm these organisms that are vital to the environment, this experiment was carried out.
